Message From Steve Heintz
Dear Brian, and Dear Partners,
Greetings again to everyone from Kikuru Rehab Hospital Guest House, Nairobi, Kenya, where our team has been staying since last Saturday. We were disappointed Sunday when there was no opportunity to preach in local churches, but we rested Sunday Monday and Tuesday -- a much needed rest, because I think we did not realize how tired we were.
On Tuesday we traveled to Karen to exchange money and had a terrific treat and surprise. We passed the Frances Jones (Feed the Children) Abandoned Baby Home on the way and turned in for a visit. This is a mission I have supported and we got to see them first hand. One little boy wrapped his hand around my finger and did not want to let go. He had the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen.
Our friend LeAnn Hanson and her team are staying here at the Guest House and we saw them in action fitting hundreds of wheelchairs to children from the community. Yes we got lots of pictures! Their warehouse is gigantic, and they have a major partnership with USAID to feed children in the slums. Since they began school attendance has gone way up and the children can learn because they don't go to school hungry.
Yesterday (Wednesday) we were back on the road to Thika and nearby presbyteries. We had to travel 100 kilometers outside of Nairobi. Again, we saw the faithful Holy Spirit pour out His mighty anointing and power on hundreds more. As we called for Intercessors, so many were at the altar that those who went down under the Spirit were in danger. Those around them stood guard to protect them. One woman who was under the power of God prophecied from the floor for about ten minutes in the vernacular language. The congregation was greatly moved as the Spirit of God spoke through her about the destiny and power He is bringing to Thika area and to their parish. It was a supernatural message from God directly to the people.
Today we were preahing locally in Kikuyu and Segona Presbyteries. All of us are under mighty anointings, and we give credit of that to the fact that you are praying. This is not a human work and we have had no power or human strength to do it -- the power has come from God. As Mosses and Evan completed their ministry this afternoon in Kikuyu Presbytery, everyone in the congregation came forward for the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Mighty power filled the sanctuary as God continued to move in what we are now calling the first wave of the Great Kenya Revival. Prophesies are coming forth that this move is going to sweep the nation and all of Africa. In 1985 the charismatic renewal came to Kenya and many of the pastors were students then and know the power of God. But the churches did not receive that movement the way they are receiving this one. Pastor David Githii today said that this is shaking the church as it has never been shaken before -- they resisted the coming of the Holy Spirit in 1929, 1937, and in the 1970's and 1980's. By God's providence and preparation they are on fire this time with a great and spreading revival.
No human being can claim any credit for this mighty move of God.
I pray that you will feel the power and anointing of Jesus as we share what we are seeing. We are humbled before the Lord Jesus our wonderful Savior as we see Him move with sovereign power on many hundreds and thousands of people. They are so dear and so hungry for the Father's Promise.
We go to two more large presbyteries tomorrow, then to visitation and home ministries on Saturday. On Sunday we hope to be preaching in the churches. We are praying that we can speak to 900 students at the Agricultural and Technological University at Thika. Rev. Stephen Kababu is attempting to arrange a meeting. We would touch 10% of the entire student body and we are believing for a revival to sweep the entire campus of 10,000. It is a most beautiful campus, with large open lawns and wonderful buildings. Stephen's parish church is right at the edge of campus and he has been reaching the students recently with great power. He received the Holy Spirit in the eighties and is now an anointed for preaching and evangelism.
We will finish Sunday and rest and shop on Monday and Tuesday. Mosses flies home early Monday morning and the rest of us depart from here Wednesday evening late. Please continue to cover us in prayer for traveling mercies and the Blood and angels of God protecting us. Pray for David Githii as he must travel to Tanzania because of some trouble in churches there. Lord Jesus, in your mighty Name we bind away the devil from him, and praise Jesus for His power upon His servant as he travels.
B'wana Asifiwe!! Praises, all praises to God for the mighty things we have seen. Our God is mighty beyond all our mortal minds can conceive.
B'wana Awabiriki!! God Bless You all as you continue to hold us up as weak vessels before a mighty God!
With Love in Jesus Christ, Dear Friends,
Steve
