Allie's Update
October 19, 2007

Dear Relatives & Friends:

It is time once again for my ministry update. Last time I wrote school was about to close for the long August holidays.

Since then a lot has happened. Peter, the oldest, left us and is now in a 10 month training program at the Kuru Kuru Training Centre on the Linden Highway doing a course in Masonry. After which they will line him up with a work study and a job eventually. So his future is pretty much out of our hands as he is also an adult and needs to make his own decisions. Some of his biological family also needs to be more involved in his life which seems to be happening little by little.

Robin, who turned 17 in July is in his last year at high school and seems to be more certain of what he wants to do after.

Audric has started high school and praise God we were able to enroll him in private school as the public school he was given was not a good one. We feel he has more potential and want to give him that opportunity to excel.

Roshan on the other hand continues to struggle with reading and writing even though he is already 14. He seems to have no interest in school or lessons. We are still trying to find a private tutor for him as the public schools are so crowded they get no one on one attention or help.

Orin, our youngest has finally stated kindergarden after waiting one month to be placed by our ministry of education. He has some catching up to do.

During the holidays they boys were able to attend Vacation Bible School, visit the Musuem and zoo and swim which they all like to do.

This week we let go of Stephanie, who was there for the last 7 months and could not seem to keep up with her responsibilities. She has been replaced by Abina Alphonso who is also a full time bible school student and is called to work with children. She is there with the understanding that we are still seeking a couple and depending on her performance will be retained as back up staff when we do find the couple. She has done several training courses in counseling and working with kids and has more energy to keep up with the boys it seems.

With her gone to Bible school in the evenings on weekdays, we have another sister who comes in to be with then while she is gone.

I have been visiting many churches and sharing briefly during their services about the home and the need for a couple. Also recently YWAM has started sending a team of young men from their DTS once per week in the afternoons to spend some time with the boys, hanging out, studying the bible having boy talks which they need. I am so grateful for this.

Meanwhile, I am preparing to go to Trinidad in a few days to attend CONECAR, Congress for evangelicals in the Caribbean. This is a big Missions Conference which brings together lots of believers from all around the region for focus on missions. After this I will take a week of some much needed R&R. Hallelujah! Show me the way to the beach ( I thank those of you who have helped me in some way to get there

When I return I have to plunge headlong into plans and preparation for our own Missions Conference in November at church as I head the department.

As I close this letter I thank God for providing for the conference, and persons to stay with mom and for sending Abina.
