Tonight, thousands streamed into the Central Plaza of Cape Haitian to hear the Gospel. Joy filled the city as the Name of Jesus was shouted again and again. Young men clung to palm trees and hung out of neighboring windows, straining to see the miracles.
We expect the crowd to grow as people tell their friends about the miracles. By the last and sixth night, the plaza will be packed full with people standing shoulder to shoulder to hear about Jesus.
Crusade Aired Live on National Radio
Tonight, the entire crusade was aired on radio across the entire nation of Haiti. In addition, a camera crew flew in from the capital Port-au-Prince in order to film the crusade for national television.
Originally the crusade was scheduled to be held in a soccer stadium, but when the soccer officials saw our level of advertising, they decided they did not want the grass on their soccer field to be destroyed by the multitudes of people. They took away the permission they had previously given.
At the last minute, we were forced to move the crusade location to the central plaza of the city. However, some voodoo priests were unhappy to have Jesus proclaimed so prominently in the center of the city. Today, even as our technicians started setting up the sound system, some policemen appeared and tried to make us leave. But, a quick, unscheduled visit to the mayor's office fixed the problem. We explained we are here to bless the city and the mayor graciously gave us permission to continue.
Preaching Prepares Hearts for Miracles
Tonight, Jessica King introduced her husband Daniel by singing "Amazing Grace," partly in Creole. The anointing was strong as Daniel stepped to the microphone.
Daniel preached on how Jesus healed the paralyzed man in Matthew 9. Jesus healed him emotionally, physically, and forgave his sins. Daniel explained that the same Jesus would do the same miracles for all people of Cape Haitian, even those listening by radio.
During the altar call, almost 100% of the crowd asked Jesus to forgive their sins. Then, as Daniel began to pray for the sick, the sick looked to Jesus for a miracle. Immediately, miracles started occurring across the crowd.
Miracles Excite the City
Many came forward to share how they were touched:
- Mama Cherney, with neck and back pain for seven years was set free from pain.
- Merlidian, an invalid confined to his bed for three years stood up and walked.
- A growth on the neck of Mrs. Saint Amant disappeared...plus she received a miracle in her left eye which had been blind.
- Another woman was cured of smoking related diseases.
