The Freedom Center Church was borne of two burdens in the heart of pastor Jallah after his salvation and
subsequent call into the work of the ministry. In the heat of the Liberian civil crisis he became burdened
to reach the hurting masses with the gospel message of hope ,restoration and total freedom and at the same
time he also became greatly troubled by the inconsistency in the lives of vast majority people around
him professing to be Christians.
Like days of Nehemiah, the Liberian civil war had brought great trouble and a lost of the sense of hope
to the people of the nation. Liberians who had been known as people of peace and dignity suddenly became
violent brutal against one another. Citizens( especially women and children ) who refused to be violent
became victims of rap, deaths, torture, starvations, and fear. These victims, in their quest to at least
keep alive and survive, had to trade their human dignity and morals with the same men who perpetuated
mayhems against them. Unless given the message of the hope and peace offered by our Lord and Savior, Jesus
Christ, these people has lost all senses of the reason to be alive.
The church on the other hand which had come from a background of tradition and nominal service to God be
became worse. A vast majority of those professing to be Christians were deeply engulf into tradition,
immorality, and unethical social Practices that brought reproach to the name of God . Instead of going with
a hungry heart to know God and serve Him and serve as a light to those destitute around them by the civil
crisis most people saw going to church as, just the fulfillment of some social responsibility.
Like a twin mother, pastor Jallah became increasingly burdened with the quest to point Jesus to the
suffering masses around him and at the same time stand up for a total change in the attitude and lifestyles
of those professing to be Christians in the worship and service to God.. He began to hear God speak to his
spirit-'Go and raise up a new generation of people for me; a generation of people who in total commitment
to my truth will raise up standard for me in my body. A generation who without fear or favor will breakaway
from the all forms of ungodly traditions and the old, nominal and lifeless order in which they tried to
serve me ."
After some period of personal and cooperate prayers and support from his wife , Pastor Mrs. Choicee
Jallah, and some of his spiritual children, the church was born with it first service held on Sunday,
December 3, 2000 on the porch of the very house pastor Jallah was raised as a child. The service was
attended by ten adults and six children..
From the inception of the launching of the church, we have faced and survived many tests and challenges
like every other life impacting church. However, We have also been blessed to see sinners, rebel fighters,
drug addicts, prostitutes come to the saving knowledge of Christ, becoming practicing Christians and some
ministers of the gospel.
At present, the church has four pastors, two ministers, three deacons and host of church workers and
members. Also, besides the two churches in Liberia, we have a missionary pastor in neighboring Sierra
Leone who has started a daughter church as part of our vision to reach the entire of Africa and the world
with the message of total freedom in Christ.
